Anisotropic suppression of quasiparticle weight in two-dimensional electron system with partially flat Fermi surface: two-loop renormalization-group analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two-loop renormalization-group analysis for a two-dimensional electron system with a partially flat Fermi surface has been carried out. We found that, irrespective of pairing mechanism, the quasiparticle weight is anisotropically suppressed due to logarithmically singular processes in the flat regions of the Fermi surface. When the energy scale decreases, the quasiparticle weight is the most strongly suppressed around the center of the flat region, which qualitatively agrees with the anisotropic pseudogap behavior suggested through the angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy experiments for underdoped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8. Quasiparticle anisotropy and pseudogap formation from the weak-coupling renormalization group point of view.
Using the one-loop functional renormalization group technique, we evaluate the self-energy in the weak-coupling regime of the 2D t-t(') Hubbard model. At van Hove (vH) band fillings and at low temperatures, the quasiparticle weight along the Fermi surface (FS) continuously vanishes on approaching the (pi,0) point where the quasiparticle concept is invalid. Away from vH band fillings the quasipa...
متن کاملDeformation of anisotropic Fermi surfaces due to electron - electron interactions
– We analyze the deformations of the Fermi surface induced by electron-electron interactions in anisotropic two dimensional systems. We use perturbation theory to treat, on the same footing, the regular and singular regions of the Fermi surface. It is shown that, even for weak local coupling, the self-energy presents a nontrivial behavior showing momentum dependence and interplay with the Fermi...
متن کاملQuantum criticality of reconstructing Fermi surfaces
We present a functional renormalization group analysis of a quantum critical point in a two-dimensional metal involving Fermi surface reconstruction due to the onset of spin density wave order. The critical theory is controlled by a fixed point in which the order parameter and fermionic quasiparticles are strongly coupled, and acquire spectral functions with a common dynamic critical exponent. ...
متن کاملRenormalization Group Approach to Low Temperature Properties of a Non-Fermi Liquid Metal
We expand upon on an earlier renormalization group analysis of a non-Fermi liquid fixed point that plausibly govers the two dimensional electron liquid in a magnetic field near filling fraction ν = 1/2. We give a more complete description of our somewhat unorthodox renormalization group transformation by relating both our field-theoretic approach to a direct mode elimination and our anisotropic...
متن کاملFermi liquid theory: a renormalization group point of view
We show how Fermi liquid theory results can be systematically recovered using a renormalization group (RG) approach. Considering a two-dimensional system with a circular Fermi surface, we derive RG equations at one-loop order for the two-particle vertex function Γ in the limit of small momentum (Q) and energy (Ω) transfer and obtain the equation which determines the collective modes of a Fermi ...
